Officer George Gunnarson
---------------------------------
At 6'6 and 260 pounds of Scandinavian oak, George was always going to be noticed.
Born into a family of share-croppers and never given an even break, Lady Luck has never been kind to George. Whenever he heard of an internship with a company or a scholarship opportunity, fate would conspire to lose the letter of application or to make him miss his bus to the interview. After trying to get into college, George eventually gave up and threw his luck in with the police force, hoping to one day work his way up to detective. As a good and devout Lutheran, and therefore an adoptive child of God, George believes that no amount of good works can protect a sinner from God's wrath and that since the Garden of Eden, man has been tinged with sin and fit only for eternal damnation. George sees his lack of luck as an eternal test by God, an eternal warning of the temptation to cut corners and cheat while equally reminding him of God's wrath. Despite this characteristically gloomy Nordic viewpoint, George sees it as his job to make the world a better place by protecting the innocent from sinners and setting the sinful on the road to righteousness.
Since joining the force he has attracted attention by fearlessly taking down Johnny Harrigan and dealing with the people on his beat in an even handed and fair minded manner. Even the crooks admit that he's helping to make his corner of the world a better place. But that doesn't mean that he's not making enemies. In fact, he's had a couple of run-ins with former cop Lance Tyrell, the house dick of the Lexington Hotel and Sgt Jimmy Harrigan, the night watch commander.
Gunnarson was also involved in taking down the Cody Powers gang without taking a scratch.
Fiercely ambitious with his sights set on a career in politics, "Lucky George" has had a taste of the good that can be done when power is wielded by righteous men and he likes it.
